The next audition to join the Ballet Junior de Genève will take place around May 2018 , date to be confirmed.
The audition is aimed at young dancers between 17 and 23 years old. An advanced technical level is required as well as an interest and curiosity about contemporary dance work.
How to apply?
You need to fill in the application form, including an ID photo, one full-length dance photo and a letter of motivation. After sending your application (by email only) you will receive an invitation to attend the audition with a timetable. Please note that a first selection is made before invitation. There is no fee to audition.
What is the application deadline?
We need to have received your documents 15 days before the audition at the latest.
What does the audition consist of?
The audition is held over two days with a selection of candidates made at the end of the first day.
You must therefore be available to stay for both days.
The audition consists of:
- a ballet class, a contemporary class
- repertoire from BJG
- an interview with selected candidates
The audition usually finishes around 7PM on Sunday.
If you have further questions about the course, please check the FAQ page.
Can I audition by video?
A video audition is only for dancers residing outside of Europe. This video must include combinations from a ballet class and a contemporary class as well as a solo of 2 minutes from any repertoire. A short improvisation is a plus.
The whole sequence should not be more than 15-20 minutes (or shorter). Please post to YouTube or Vimeo (password protected) or send a DVD.
Can I do a private audition?
The annual audition is a moment when the teaching faculty is available to evaluate your potential and your work. It is more difficult for us to take the necessary time outside of these dates.
For this reason we would only consider a private audition for candidates in unavoidable circumstances. To apply for a private audition you must justify with an official document why you cannot be in Geneva for the general audition. The required forms still need to be sent.
